New Sun Salsa Practica

Open dance floor. All ages welcome!
We start with easy low tempo salsa mix to start the night, along with little Cha Cha and Bachata in the mix, feel free to go next door for a cocktail through out the evening. Everyone is welcome, students & professionals. To continue the party, some of us will be heading out to Trip door for more salsa dancing.

Whether you come to watch or to dance, this is one event you don't want to miss! 

The competition will be three separate levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) Again, we may have high as 15 couple competing. Each level of students will be featuring a different routine they've been learning and practicing for that series. Winners will be selected by a panel of guest judges and each student will receive $100 gift packages. In addition to the 3 winning couples, there wiil be a winner for "best dress couple" they offer a FREE photo shoot by Jim Hadley www.jimhadleystudio.com.

Prior to the competition, students will be having a prefunk dinner, meetup member are welcome to join us. but due to very limited seating, (prepay for our meetup members will be set up 2 weeks prior to the event) please check back with us for available spots. Prefunk venue will be at Shallots Asian Bistro (VIP) room which is the back room of our dance studo where our event is heild. $18 Buffet tax & tips are included, you would be buying your own drinks through out the evening, only $7 cover for dance event if you are having dinner with us, total is $25 plus papal fee.
Our Dance Competition is right next door "with open bar". Show will start at 9pm and run until approximately 10:15pm, there will be raffle drawings at end of competition for all guest, after which everyone is welcome salsa dance for the remainder of the night, with special guest DJ - TBA.

AFRO-BRAZILIAN DANCE - BEGINNER LEVEL

Come celebrate Afro-Brazilian rhythm and dance in this fun and energetic class!
Learn dances that draw from the rich cultural traditions of Bahia and Northeast Brazil, including Afro, Samba Reggae, Samba de Roda, Dances of the Orixas, Forro and Carnaval/Street dances. The cultural context and history behind these dances are also integrated into class.

Our beginner class introduces basic Afro-Brazilian movement, starting with a warm-up that emphasizes stretching, strengthening and breathing. You’ll then learn basic movements, movement sequences, and simple choreography working individually, in pairs and in groups. Each class concludes with a cool-down session.

A diverse selection of the enchanting rhythms and music from Brazil accompanies you throughout class. You’ll learn how to recognize the rhythms specific to each dance. This blend of vibrant Brazilian rhythms and movement leaves your body invigorated and your spirit refreshed!

Class is taught both in Portuguese and English.

No previous dance experience needed.

Nadira's Bio
Nadira has become one of the most passionate, elegant and dynamic Middle Eastern performers in the U.S. Having graced many audiences throughout the U.S., Canada, Turkey, Egypt and abroad, her dance is graceful, seamless and multi-faceted.

Nadira has been a featured performer on Persian television, toured Turkey, performing and teaching in Istanbul and Antalya and recently returned home from Egypt.

Some of her favorite performance venues will always be those close to home, such as 2001-current Arab Festivals, Folk Life and Bumbershoot festivals – some of the largest festivals in Seattle, WA.
